A very successful stall was held at Cheddar Car Boot yesterday, with a large number of bags, t-shirts, leaflets & books distributed. New members were signed up and generous donations to the branch gratefully received!
It was clear from virtually everyone we spoke to (including many Tories) that patience has completely run out with May’s Brexit-shambles and they want to get out NOW on WTO terms.
Many thanks to all those who came along to help, especially to Rob, Colin & Mandy who came from neighboring branches.
Kind wishes,
Helen Hims, UKIP SW Regional Communications Officer
Another successful event last Wednesday at the North Devon Show.
North Devon Chairman Stuart Robertson said:
“It was an outstanding success with nearly a dozen new members signed up and lots of people taking application forms away. We had a lot of fun and all who attended deserve special mention.”
With regard to attracting new members.
Offer free on-line UKIP membership. No cost to UKIP but endless possibilities of turning browsers in to members.
These are free non-voting memberships. If they wish to shape policies or elect representatives they will stump up the membership fee.
Except that the official site is absolute crap. There is nothing to browse !
It doesn’t even have a list of new NEC members, its latest video is about ‘the horrors of child marriage ‘ ( July 20 ) from some old lady who know one outside of UKIP has even heard of and if you click on ‘Campaigns’ it says ‘ New campaigns coming soon’
I hope Kris Hicks is reading this… For goodness sakes spend some time and money and get this site working.
Just a question for anybody to answer ,please…..is there a central fund to support action days like this,or each branch having a local fund. It seems that if on these days they get 10-20 new members, then we should be doing more of them all over the country, every weekend. If there is a separate fund how do I put some donation into it ?
Each branch has to raise its own funds, with never any financial support from the centre. Thats why some branches can do more activities than other branches.
As Gerard has been reported wanting to get membership up from its current 23,000 to over 40,000 it would seem to be an idea for a coordinated campaign to have stalls everywhere possible, not only to get the UKIP message across but to raise membership. If every stall got 15 new members a day,and you had, say, just 50 stalls across the country that would be 750 new members on one day, with a campaign with the bloggers on going UKIP would go from strength to strength …is there a stall pack for branches or could there be one made up from central… Read more »
We need to sort out our web presence first of all. If there is any money ( there should be if all these new memberships are real ) thats where the priority should be.
My offer of help still stands. I have heard nothing yet. Perhaps Kris is too busy right now.
Indeed, he may be a tad busy today ?
The websitein its current form was phase 1 – getting the site off Nationbuilder to save costs. Other phases will follow.
I rememeber the chair of UKIP’s LGBT wing (he’s now a Tory ?) being surprised when he found out an NEC member had been invited to fund his Pride attendance (he got funds for everything apart from the Margaret Thatcher masks, which ended up unused).
There are no “magic money trees” in central funds, and geneours donors with specific interests usually hypothecate.
If you are correct about the Tories standby for a Corbyn government . Let`s hear from the northern UKIP camps . What is happening up there ?
Well done you SW UKIP activists.
These high visibility shows really are the way forward for UKIP.
Lets hope your new members will be helping to man your stall on its next outing.
